Irit Rosenblum
Encyclopedia
Irit Rosenblum is an Israeli advocate
and human rights
leader and the founder and executive director of the New Family Organization
. She is a member of the Israeli Bar Association
and served as a presiding judge in the police disciplinary court.
Advocate Rosenblum has consistently led New Family to achieve results that changed the legal reality for family life in Israel. Note that her long list of achievements, gaining recognition for same-sex families, issuing Common-Law Marriage ID’s, which are recognized in official government bodies, the "Biological Will" Initiative, and promoting parenthood and family through reproductive technologies, is only the tip of the iceberg of her extensive activity on behalf of the human rights of unconventional families.
It is well-known that family law in Israel is a complicated realm, because it mixes religious issues, family issues and government issues that sometimes find themselves in polar positions and conflicts of interests.
Irit Rosenblum established New Family with the aim of assisting all those who encounter legal barriers in establishing their families, or who are deterred by the opaque bureaucracy that is inclined to uphold the status quo between religious and secular, and which paralyzes the legal processes which befit an advanced and progressive society.
Irit Rosenblum, took on a mission to use New Family as a tool to fight the failures of the legal establishment, and to find a way to resolve the issues that the legal system could not.
Irit Rosenblum’s philosophical theory on the structure and behavior of the family entity, made a tremendous change in humanity’s attitude towards family rights and the acknowledgement of family rights as human rights.
