Marstons Mills is a village in the City of Barnstable, Massachusetts. It was founded by the Marston Family in 1648. They built grist mills along the Marstons Mills River, hence the name of the village. It is primarily residential, located on Route 28, and rural in nature...

, built circa 1750s. The homestead contains the historic house, adjoining barn and grain silo. The silo is unique in the fact that it is made out of wood. It was once listed as one of the Ten Most Endangered Historic Resources in Massachusetts.

History

The homestead was operated as a farm from the 1750s to 2006, when the owner died. After being threatened by a previous owner who wanted to tear down the house and build a new one on the nearby pond, the community rallied around the historical commission and the owner sold the land and house to Cape Abilities. Cape Abilities is a nonprofit organization that helps provide jobs and housing to those with disabilities.
