Iseltwald has an area, , of 21.85 km² (8.4 sq mi). Of this area, 6.85 km² (2.6 sq mi) or 31.4% is used for agricultural purposes, while 10.44 km² (4 sq mi) or 47.8% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.51 km² (0.196912100882193 sq mi) or 2.3% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.08 km² (19.8 acre) or 0.4% is either rivers or lakes and 3.97 km² (1.5 sq mi) or 18.2% is unproductive land.

Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 1.0% and transportation infrastructure made up 1.1%. 42.5% of the total land area is heavily forested and 3.2% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 4.6% is pastures and 26.7% is used for alpine pastures. All the water in the municipality is in rivers and streams. Of the unproductive areas, 7.9% is unproductive vegetation and 10.3% is too rocky for vegetation.

Transportation

For a long time, the only access to the village was through a small regional road or by ferry. Since the building of the A8 Autobahn in 1988, the village has its own junction. . Bus service 3 operates on a half hourly frequency and connects Iseltwald to Interlaken from Interlaken West and Interlaken Ost stations. During summers, a ferry service operates from Interlaken Ost to Iseltwald starting on River Aare and ending at Iseltwald on Lake Brienz.

Demographics

Iseltwald has a population (as of ) of . , 6.8% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has decreased at a rate of -9.9%. Most of the population speaks German (97.2%), with French being second most common ( 0.7%) and Italian being third ( 0.7%).
