Ishaq Ibn Rahwayh

Abū Yaʻqūb Isḥāq ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Mukhallad al-Ḥanbalī , commonly known as Ishaq Ibn Rahwayh , was the muhaddith, faqih
and the imam
of Khurasan
of his time. He was given the title of "the leader of the believers in the field of hadith" (amir al-muʼminīn fī al-ḥadīth) for his major contributions to the science of hadith. It is said that Ibn Rahwayh memorized more than one hundred thousand hadiths.
He was also a fellow student and a friend of Ahmad ibn Hanbal
who accompanied him on his travels to seek knowledge.
decided to dedicate the rest of his life in compiling a book that would strictly comprise of authentic (sahih) traditions, his mission was further strengthened when he was advised by his respected teacher, Ishaq Ibn Rahwayh, to compile such as book. Al-Bukhari stated, "There was once a time during one of our sessions when my teacher Ishaaq Ibn Rahway remarked it would be appreciated if someone could collect ahadith which held strong and reliable testimonials and write them in the form of a book".
