. It streches from Playa Larga to Cayos Zapatillas and over to Coral Cay, comprising an area over 13.000 hectares of which 11.596 is home to a variety of species of the Caribbean wildlife.
Resembling a pair of shoes, the first Panamenian national marine park serves not onnly as a refugee for coral reefs, mammals, reptiles and birds, but also a nesting place for sea turtles. Named after the Zapatillas fruit, the park is managed and protected by ANAM since its creation in 1988.
