In 2007, the station won the prestigious Sony Award for 'Station of the Year' (in the category for stations with under 300,000 listeners).

In December 2010 Radio Academy recognised the work done by Isle of Wight Radio since becoming independent by awarding the 'Station of the Year' award. The first time in four years. The Isle of Wight Radio news team also scooped the 'best original story' at the IRN/SKY NEWS awards 2011.The station received many top industry awards in the past, including the Radio Academy's 'Station of the Year' award in 1998, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
