Islington Boxing Club also known as Islington Boys Club and Islington Amateur Boxing Club is an amateur Boxing Club based in Islington

. With the move also came a new name which then they became known as 'Islington Boys Club'.
As the expansion of the club grew, the search was on for their own premises that would attract some borough funding. In 1981 it was suggested the possibility of using the site offices of the Bovis Construction Company which they were using for the construction of the Elthrone Park estate in Hazellville Road, N19. To this day the club are still based in Hazellville Road and their long term plans are to secure a long term lease and redevelop their facility.
The club aims is to tackle the strict dispine of Boxing Training as well as keeping children, youth and young adults off the streets which has been a priority since it first began. Recently the club also introduced a recreational section to the club for those that don't want to compete within boxing but to simply train within a boxing environment.
Islington BC has won awards in and out of the boxing ring throughout the years which includes numerous boxers who have won national and international boxing titles. In February 2010 the club received the 'Mayor Civic Award' which was a community award for making Islington a better place. Along with that founder Ron Hagland picked up the 'Sports Islington Volunteer of the Year' award in June 2010 for his volunteering services to the club which is now nearly approaching 40 years.
In June 2011 the club also received the 'Sports Islington Club of the Year' award. Islington are also the first amateur boxing club in London to achieve ABAE Club Mark Accreditation which they were accredited in July 2010. Clubmark is the only national cross sports quality accreditation scheme for clubs with junior sections. It is built around a set of core criteria which ensure that accredited clubs operate to a set of consistent, accepted and adopted minimum operating standards.
The club utilised the ‘Recruit Into Coaching’ programme to qualify 7 new Level 1 Coaches who as volunteers helped to develop and deliver ‘Academy’ sessions for those new to the sport. The ‘Academy’ sessions have been a success with talented individuals filtering into the club sessions. These sessions run on Tuesdays and Thursday nights from 6pm-8pm.
In July 2010 Islington ABC became the first amateur boxing club in London to achieve ABAE Club Mark Accreditation. [1 ]
As the club goes from strength to strength, it has won two valuable awards in 2010. The Mayor of Islington's Civic Award for contributions to the local community and Club Secretary Ron Hagland was named Volunteer of the Year at the recent Sport Islington Sports Awards. [2 ]
They also have six youth teams from Under-8s to Under-16s.

History
The Islington Boxing Club was founded as the Kings Cross Amateur Boxing Club in January 1974 and was based in the community hall of York Way Court, close to Kings Cross Station. They were backed by a willing group of trainers and helpers who were all intent on getting the club established, hoping to rid the area of increasing vandalism by bored local youngsters in a deprived environment. Information
Islington Boxing Club run competitive amateur boxing sessions three nights a week, Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. Football section
As well as boxing, Islington Boys Club have a football section which is known as Islington Admiral United FC. Admiral, as they are commonly known, are an amateur football club based in Islington with most of their matches being played at Market Road Astroturf, N7. They have two senior sides which are based in the Islington Midweek Premiership, Islington Admiral United FC and Islington Boxing Club FC (formally known as Admiral 'B').They also have six youth teams from Under-8s to Under-16s.
