Jack Christey

Detective Sergeant Jack Christey (John Edward Christey, b. 10 September 1954) was a fictional character from the police series Water Rats
. He was portrayed by Steve Bisley
. He was on the show as a guest star in 1998, and then as a main star in 1999 to the end in 2001.

In season three, Jack met Rachel Goldstein
(Catherine McClements
) when he worked at the Water Police as a temporary replacement for Frank. He liked Rachel straight away, but the same could not be said for her initially. They later slept together when Jack replaced Frank for two weeks.
In season four, Jack came back to the Water Police to fill the void Frank had left, and was partnered with Rachel and newcomer Michael Reilly (Aaron Pedersen
). He was a little annoyed at Rachel at first, for not returning his phone calls, but it was obvious that he still had a soft spot for her. Later in the season, he and Rachel were kidnapped and came close to dying. It was because of this that they began their relationship again, and it lasted until Rachel was stabbed and died in Jack's arms. Jack told Rachel that he loved her, and only found out that she felt the same way about him after reading her diary.
In season five, Jack found out he had an 18-year-old daughter, Sophie, from relationship that ended long ago.
In season six, Jack became Acting Chief Inspector when Jeff
took time off work, and in the final episode of Water Rats, Jack was shot and left floating in the harbour. Although it is not known for sure what happened to him after that, he probably died as Steve Bisley was not returning if the series continued after 2001.
