 in 1611. Jacob may have briefly been a teacher of the Dutch master painter, Rembrandt, and the Pynas brothers are both a noted influence on him. The Pynas brothers were grouped within Dutch artists called the Pre-Rembrandtists.

Their work is close in style to the painter Adam Elsheimer
