She was first known to the public as "Kwan Sum-yin" in 2002. Her singing was greatly admired as were her albums. Her first two albums, "Jade-1" and "Jade-2", won her gold records. Over the years, she has won many music industry awards in Hong Kong and China.
She also plays a few musical instruments including piano, guitar and saxophone. Jade received a minor degree in Music Composition while attending University of British Columbia

Jade Kwan is a practising Christian, and has been active recently in the Christian community in Hong Kong. She recorded a few Christian songs in 2008 and some of them became popular in the Japanese Christian music scene. Those songs also met with success in the mainstream music market, despite the religious connotations of the songs.
