Origin

Jadhav is a title, traditionally used by the 96 Kuli Maratha communities, although the usage in other communities in Deccan is not uncommon. The 96 Kuli Maratha Jadhavs claim descent from the Jadhavrao, who in turn claim to be descendants of the Seuna Yadavs of Devgiri. There are several theories about the origin of the Seunas of Devgiri. The Seuna dynasty claimed descent from the Chandravanshi Yadavas (Yaduvanshis) of north India. According to verse 21 of the Vratakhand (a Sanskrit work by Hemadri), the Seunas were originally from Mathura and later moved to Dwaraka. Yadavs of Maharashtra

The Seuna, Sevuna or Yadava dynasty (850 - 1334) was an Indian dynasty, which at its peak ruled a kingdom stretching from the Tungabhadra to the Narmada rivers, including present-day Maharashtra, north Karnataka and parts of Madhya Pradesh, from its capital at Devagiri (present-day Daulatabad in Maharashtra). History shows that in middle of the 14th century, some of the jadhavs mmigrated from Bhore to Sudhgad Pali, in order to capture the fort with the help of the naiks.

Pune under Yadav Dynasty

With the downfall of the Rashtrakutas, who ruled Pune from the 8th century AD to the middle of the 10th century, the city came under the control of the Yadavs. The Jadhav ruled Maharashtra from the 10th century AD to the end of the 13th century. Singhania, the Jadhav ruler, was a lover of literature and art. Sant Dnyaneshwar, a Bhakti saint, lived during this period. The Jadhav rule came to an end with the coming of Ala-ud-din Khilji.
