Jaime Eduardo Riveros Valenzuela (born November 27, 1970 in Quinta de Tilcoco
, Chile
) is a Chile
an footballer, who currently is Palestino. Riveros has many nicknames which are "la Liebre", "la Zurdita", "el Mono", and "el 10." He has played for seven different clubs and has been called up to the national team. He made his national team debut on January 4, 1997, against Armenia
. He represented his country at the Copa América 1997
playing in two games. He also played in three games for Chile in the qualifications for the 1998 FIFA World Cup
and in three games in the qualifications for the 2002 FIFA World Cup
scoring one goal.
Riveros made his professional debut with O'Higgins
in 1990. Soon after he was loaned to Second Division side Unión Santa Cruz for the 1992 season where he impressed and was recalled to his previous club, O'Higgins.
In 1995 he moved to Cobreloa
where he would earn 175 caps and score 74 times. While with Cobreloa, Riveros was recognized as one of the key parts of the team. He then moved on to Santiago Wanderers where he would help the team win the championship in 2001. That year he was also named most valuable player of the league.
During the Apertura 2004 tournament Riveros scored 15 games in a row, breaking the record. After demonstrating good football for several years, Riveros was signed by one of Chile's big clubs, Universidad de Chile
. However the 2005 season with the Universidad de Chile was not a very good one for Riveros and he was sold to Colombian team, Deportivo Cali
. With Deportivo Cali, Riveros won the second championship of his career. The following year he would return to Chile for a short stint with former team Santiago Wanderers before going to Huachipato.
In 2008, he was transferred to Everton
. Riveros led the team to their first Chilean League title in 32 years, winning the Apertura tournament. He is currently considered as a key player, despite of his age.
