Weary's departure from As the World Turns was the cause of some controversy, as the timing coincided with a change in course for the character of Luke, who would be revealed to be gay. Initially, news reports suggested that Weary or Zimmer may have been uncomfortable with the story. Zimmer subsequently told the press that Weary's departure was related to his age (at the time, he was 15) and that such a storyline would require a much larger time commitment than originally agreed to. Weary wanted to be able to focus on school and make occasional appearances. And he played as Sal in 2010's movie Altitude.
Weary did go on to appear in episodes of two of the Law & Order franchise
shows, Criminal Intent
and SVU

Jake Weary is also an electro-pop/hip hop/rock musician. His most famous song is "Baby Go Bye Bye". He produces, writes, and records his own music, and has been producing on his laptop since the age of 12. His debut Mix tape "The Hard Love" was officially released on June 17, 2010 through Hip Folk Records. "The Hard Love" consists of a little Hip hop and a splash of new age electronic. His first mixtape, "The Hard Love" is available for free download exclusively through Hip Folk Records. Weary is already working hard on his debut album titled "The Loner Years" which is tentatively due out sometime in the first quarter of 2011.
