James Baldwin-Webb

Colonel James Baldwin-Webb (died 18 September 1941) was a British Conservative Party
politician who served in the House of Commons as a Member of Parliament
(MP) from 1931 to 1941.
He was an officer of the Royal Army Service Corps
and fought in World War I
. As a result of his service in France he was created a Chevalier of the Ordre du Mérite Agricole by the French Government. He was also appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant
of Staffordshire
in 1932.
Baldwin-Webb was drowned when the SS City of Benares
was torpedoed and sunk in the North Atlantic by a German submarine.
He is commemorated in the House of Commons chamber by a heraldic shield.
A road is named after him in the Donnington district of Telford in Shropshire.
