A week prior to the beginning of the 2010 season, it was announced that Miccosukee was dropping its sponsorship of all NASCAR teams, effective immediately. Despite this setback, Buescher responded with an 8th place finish in the season opener at Daytona International Speedway

At the end of the season, Buescher left the team to focus on his new Nationwide Series ride. . Despite not running the first three events of the season, Buescher finished 11th in the final points standings, just 16 points out of 10th. Turner Motorsports announced that Buescher would return to the team for 2011, running the full 25-race schedule. Buescher led 55 laps at Daytona before finishing 9th. However, he would DNQ at Phoenix.

The 2011 season has been one of huge accomplishments for Buescher in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. James won his first Truck Series pole at Texas. Also, after missing the second race of the season at Phoenix, as well as crashing out of the event at Martinsville, has made a huge comeback. Buescher currently holds a 13-race top ten streak. , with just eight races left in the season, Buescher sat in first place in the point standings for the first time in his career. Despite leading the points at one point during the season, James Buescher finished third in the final point standings.

Buescher has a cousin, Chris, who races in the ARCA Series as a developmental driver for Roush Fenway Racing.
