James Fukai is a guitarist

Fukai is a self-taught rock and metal guitarist. He grew up in Auburn, Alabama, graduating from Auburn High School in 1992 and then attending the University of Michigan
where he received degrees in Anthropology and Psychology. He later enrolled in Auburn University and received a degree in Management Information Systems. Fukai joined Trust Company in 2000 when the band was known as 41 Down.
Trust Company released their first album, The Lonely Position of Neutral, in July 2002. The single "Downfall" went on to be a huge hit, climbing rapidly up the charts. "The Lonely Position" was certified Gold by the RIAA. Later singles "Running From Me" (from "The Lonely Position of Neutral") and "Stronger" (from their second album "True Parallels") enjoyed moderate success.
The band broke up in 2005 but reunited in 2007. There were two reunion shows scheduled in their hometown of Montgomery, Alabama
, in October 2007. The band planned a small tour through the south in March and April 2008. In 2009, Trust Company continued playing shows throughout the continental United States. In May 2010, they completed the recording of their third album. The expected album release date is February 8, 2011, with the first single release in late fall 2010.
Fukai was married to Mary Henderson in May 2010 in Auburn, AL. He is of Japanese descent.
