Robinson came to prominence playing for Cardiff Blues

He suffered a long lay off through a knee injury at the beginning of the 04–05 season, returning to action in the middle of the 05–06 season. He immediately recovered his best form, leading to him gaining a place in the Wales squad to Argentina
where he started both tests scoring one Try. This was also the first time he and his brother Nicky
, played together for Wales. Robinson, and Kevin Morgan
have the record for scoring the most tries in one Celtic League season, both scoring 12 tries in a season.
Robinson left the Blues following the 2008–09 season, signing with the ambitious French side Toulon
. After the 2009–10 season, he was linked with a possible return to the Magners League with Italian
expansion team Aironi
, but ultimately decided to stay in France, signing with newly promoted Agen
for the 2010–11 season.
