Jammalamadugu has a considerable export trade in coarse sarees, produced both in the town and in adjoining villages. It is equally famous for its trade in ghee and also trades in cotton, groundnut, jowar and other millets. In recent years its trade in citrus fruits appears to be on the increase.

 Or The Gorge Fort. It is situated about 6 miles to the west of Jammalamadugu. The width within the fort is at its broadest, about five and a half furlongs from west to east and almost a mile from northwest to southeast.

There is a famous missionary hospital, CSI Campbell Hospital serving this area and the surrounding towns from the British rule period.This hospital was built in 1896, and is one of the oldest hospital. The former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, late Dr. Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy was born and worked in this hospital as a doctor.

Jammalamadugu govt school and degree college which was built in 1911, is very popular. This institution has generated so many leaders.

The centre of the town is a Sri Venkateshwara Temple, one of the oldest in the region. The temple is managed by locals and maintained very neatly. In the temple premises there is a well as well sufficient water supply from the corporation. The accounting books of the temple are well maintained and the devotees are spread across.

One more prominent temple in Jammalamadugu is Sri Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari Temple, which was constructed in 1903 with the co-operation of all Vysyas in Jammalamadugu and surrounds. The first Pujari (Priest) of the temple is Sri.Koratamaddi. Lakshmi Narasaiah. The Temple was Built strongly and maintained very well during entire year. Especially in Dassera festival, temple is set stage with high end decorative items and attracts people from different religions and castes. Approximately 0.5 million people would visit during Dassera (9 days festival). Temple is maintained by Vysyas elected from among the same caste. Danuvulapadu was very famous for JAIN temple.

Jammalamadugu is famous for the temple NarapuraSwami temple formally in English is the Swami balaji situated in the north of the town. The temple is very very famous for its history and has good ethical values.

This town will have an yearly wise function(Tirunala) happening every year for nearly 12 days. People from various places over near to the town visit the lord Venkateswara on this eve.

Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy laid foundation stone for the first phase of Brahmani Industries Limited, an integrated steel plant, the largest one in the State, at Ambavaram in Jammalamadugu mandal on June 10. Now it is stopped due to some political problems.

The first phase of the steel plant which was projected in 2007, to be established by an MLC of Bellary, Janardhana Reddy, would be completed in 18 months with an investment of Rs. 4,500 crore and initial installed capacity of two million tonnes.

Another well known temple is ambhabhavani temple which is maintained by bhavasarakshyatriya community.In side the temple one can able to see bhavani idol.idol is made up white stone.During last day of dasara people used to wake up entire night and worship the bhavani.
