until 1987. Later Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi appointed Sri. B. Janardhan Poojary as Union Minister of State for Rural Development from 1987 to 1989. Sri. Rajiv Gandhi also appointed Sri B. Janardhan Poojary as General Secretary of All India Congress Committee
in 1990 as well as President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee
