    Khunda is one of the prominent villages in Attock District, located 70 km north of Islamabad (Pakistan’s capital) on the Fatehjang –Kohat Road. Almost everyone in this village speaks their native Punjabi and majority of households are dependent on agriculture with wheat and peanuts as major crops. The village is famous for its political representation in the National and Provincial politics throughout Pakistan’s history. The prominent names include Malik Allahyar Khan

     who was elected MNA in 2001 elections and later became the Chairman of the PAC, Sardar Sarfraz an Ex-member of National and Provincial Assemblies and Malik Atta Muhammad who served as the Chairman of District Council.

    Malik Allahyar Khan donated land for construction of high schools for boys and girls, as well as a basic health unit, and a veterinary clinic.
    The village has electricity and water supply scheme and most of the roads are concreted. It has a fiber link with the outside world.
    Khunda also is a market town with the surrounding villages.

    Prominent personalities of this village include:
    • Sardar Lal Khan, known for his courage and bravery against the Bristish Raj and Sikhs. He fought many wars against them and never accepted their government. He was offered a lot of property, but declined; rather, he lost a lot of his own property as a Freedom Fighter and political activist.     • Sardar Saleem Khan, is a grandson of Sardar Lal Khan and son of Sardar Ghulam Khan, a social worker, political activist, and founder of various charity and philanthropic organizations, is currently Chairman of the Social Development Organization, one of the largest NGOs in the District.
    • Sardar Abdul Rashid Khan, elder brother of Sardar Saleem Khan, has played a very active role in the Judiciary. He is a well-respected and learned person, who commands respect in the whole region, due to his humble and down to earth behaviour.
    • Cdr Abdul Qayyum Khan is also an important and widely respected personality. He also belongs to Village of Thatta and grandson of Sardar Lal Khan. He has been playing a very active social and political role since after his retirement from Pakistan Navy on completion of his meritorious service.
