Jatin Bora is widely regarded as an icon of Assam in the field of cinema. He is defintely the most successful and accomplished film actor in Assamese cinema. This versatile actor has risen from the roots and gained the pinnacle of success in his field. From his debut in 1989 to become the most sought-after poster boy of Assamese cinema world, Jatin Bora has traversed a long way from a remote village of Assam to the annals of Assamese cultural history.
He completed his schooling from Dawson Higher Secondary and Multi Purpose School and started his college education from the Nagaon GNDG Commerce College . He went on to complete his graduation from Nagaon
College.
His first stage performance Lakshminath Bezboruah’s Mukti when he was a student of class VII.
Jatin is a diploma holder in Fine Arts from the famous Kallol Art School in Nagaon.Musically inclined from childhood,he is a ‘Visharad’ in Tabla. He also trained in the Assamese classical Sattriya dance under the guidance of Rabin Chandra Das of Nagaon. Jatin Bora performed in various Bhaonas during his childhood. In these Sattriya ekankika naats and the locally-organized "Raas" festivals, he was generally selected to play the role of ‘Krishna’.

After Uttarkal's success, Jatin Bora acted in a lot of plays for Doordarshan . Hefeatured in several popular teleserials like Biju Phukan
’s "Deuta", Chandra Talukdar’s "Namgharia", "Birina Paator Anguthee", Jones Mahalia's "Pratighat", "Surangor Majere", "Ghat-Pratighat", etc.
In 1993 he bagged a role in the popular film " I Killed Him Sir". After this there was no looking back and he has grown from strength to strength as an actor and has been capable of successfully carrying a film on his shoulder.
He joined "Hengul" Theatre in 1994. Next year hje got an offer in "Abahon Theatre", then directed by the stalwart genius late Dr Bhabendra Nath Saikia and Mr Muni Barua, for the 1995-96 season. He continues to be actively involved in Assamese
moving Theatre Industry.Presently he is acting in Kohinoor Theatre.
He acted in their plays written for Abahon. Later, Dr Bhabedranath Saikia cast him for his first and only Hindi film "Kaalsandhya".
He started his directorial venture in 2006 with a film called 'Adhinayak
' (opposite: Nichita Goswami). This film was extensively shot in Barapani, Cherrapunji
and in and around Guwahati

Early life
Jatin Bora was born on April 25, 1970 to Sri Gakul Chandra Bora and Premolata Bora,in Kacholukhowa village, Nagaon(Assam).He did his primary schooling in Marikalang Prathamik Vidyalaya.As a child he used to take part in Navajyoti Sangha Maina Parijat, a weekly children's cultural meet, near his village.He was taught the nuances of Bhaona-the traditional Assamese drama, as a child.He completed his schooling from Dawson Higher Secondary and Multi Purpose School and started his college education from the Nagaon GNDG Commerce College .
