Encyclopedia
Jean-Baptiste Edmond Fleuriot-Lescot or Lescot-Fleuriot (born in Brussels, 1761 — died in Paris on July 28, 1794) was a Belgian architect, sculptor and a revolutionary. He was mayor of Paris for 2 months and 18 days.

After he was guillotined, the office of mayor of Paris was abolished, and with the exception of two brief interludes in 1848 following the overthrow of Louis-Philippe and in 1870-1871 following the overthrow of Napoleon III, it wouldn't be restored until 1977.
