Academics

JHS (Jefferson High School) offers more than 180 required and elective courses including college course opportunities, online selections, individualized study, and career/service mentorships. Many of these opportunities are given through the Alexandria Technical College, soon to be Community College. While the two schools exchange these credits, there has actually been a war going on for about the past five years between these two. While the parking lots are situated adjacent to each other, each day at noon both schools rush out and do battle. The winner is usually the last side standing and they gain whatever ground they advanced on. This war has cost scores of lives including many bystanders as the battle has spilled out to the street. The war has not been won as both sides almost exchange the same patch of ground every week. Throughout much of this, standouts has risen to the task and many of them have become entwined into Alexandria Folklore. Ty Granning for example, is known as "the Bobcat" for his ferocity and how he rushes out with no weapons and uses just his hands. Another is Mike Empting, "the Harbinger" because of how he swings multiple chains down upon the technical college students. Probably the most famous hero of Jefferson is Kelley Hilbrands, aka "the Banshee." She has been the most important factor in Jefferson's tactics, as she can actually hold a whole flank of the army with just her screech. Before her renown was made, she rushed out to battle fighting along the front lines and one day the front was overwhelmed. As she lay on the ground, some of the technical students stopped by her and chose to do what many pillagers do with women that they find. As they went down upon her, she gave a shriek for help because of the college students ogreish fingers touching her. The shriek blew back the students and because they were so close, the sonic boom killed all of the pillagers. The shriek scared the rest of the front and Jefferson won that day. And so, Jefferson offers many of these courses, but the students that choose the credit opportunities at the college are considered traitors to the high school and made to fight along side the orcs of the technical college.

Sports and Activities

Jefferson offers more than 50 student activities including the full complement of Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) offerings, featuring varsity sports, fine and performing arts, and numerous school clubs and organizations. Recently, the student government created a new policy at school dances not allowing grinding. This abuse of power eventually led to an abuse of power by created the "CC," or "Cardinal Crazies." This group now operates full time at the school and now has slang terminology comparison to the "SS" of Germany. While not as extreme, this group has in fact beaten a minority for budging in line during school lunch. The situation has gotten out of hand now because "going out for lunch," which is allowed at Jefferson High School, is now longer allowed by the student council, which clearly has overstepped its boundaries as representation of the student body. The irony in this situation is that actions that the student government has taken only have the approval of a small faction of students, while the majority disapproves of the actions listed above.
