in 1991 where she was selected for the Dean's List, and her MD from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University in 2000, where she served as President of her class for four consecutive years. She was the recipient of the Herbert J. Bartlestone Award in Pharmacology upon graduating from medical school.

at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, an affiliate of Mount Sinai Medical Center, in Englewood, New Jersey
. She is the Founder of Hygeia Gynecology, LLC, her private medical practice in New Jersey.
Ashton has authored a book for adolescent girls, titled "The Body Scoop for Girls". "The Body Scoop for Girls" was published by Avery, the health division of Penguin Publishing. She has also written articles for various magazines, and is the author of a health blog for The Bergen Record, a northern New Jersey newspaper.
She was signed as a medical contributor for the national Fox News Channel
in March 2006, along with her husband. She has been featured on TLC's A Baby Story
