Jeremy Moon was a British
abstract artist born in Cheshire
in 1934. He read law at Cambridge University, and whilst there he practised painting as a hobby in his spare time.
In 1961, he visited the second Situation exhibition at the Whitechapel Gallery
, and was inspired by the largescale abstract works of Bernard Cohen
and William Turnbull. In 1963, having worked as a professional artist for just two years, he was given a solo show at the Rowan Gallery.
He died in 1973 in a motorcycle accident.
Since his death, there have been a number of posthumous exhibitions dedicated to him. Notable solo shows in London have been held at The Rocket Gallery and The Nunnery. His work has also featured in group exhibitions in Madrid and Berlin and he has public exhibitions at The Tate Britain
Gallery in London and the Gulbenkian Museumin Lisbon.
