. They married in 1977. It was a second marriage for both Judy and Jerry. They were later divorced in 1990 and remarried in 1991. Between them they have five children - Gregory, Jamie, Adam, Jonothan and Nicole - and 11 grandchildren.

During his tenure on The People's Court, his on-bench demeanor was somewhat less stern than that of his wife. He displayed more humor and was straightforward, often registering mock indignation whenever litigants referred to him (as they sometimes did) as "Judge Judy's husband."
