of Virginia. Jetersville was named after the French Marquis, Jesse Jeter. Jeter came to Virginia in 1889 and served as the principal veterinarian to Amelia County, primarily treating farm animals. The community was originally prounouced "je TAYS ville" however, it is suspected that it lost the French inflection in the early 1900's and is now pronouced "JEET ers ville."
