Jim Olmedo Alapag better known as Jimmy Alapag, is a Filipino-American professional basketball player for the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters in the Philippine Basketball Association
. He was named the 2003 PBA Rookie of the Year, where he led the Phone Pals to the All-Filipino Championship.
A perennial member of the Philippine national basketball team, the 5 foot 9 playmaker is considered to be one of the most explosive point guards the Philippines has produced.

. Alapag was discovered in the United States and was sent to the country as part of the pool. He made his debut during a 2002 PBA Governor's Cup game for the Selecta RP Team, one of two RP Pool team that played in the said conference. However, in his only game as a non-PBA player, he suffered an injury and was eventually cut from the pool.
, one of the deepest pools in PBA history. Expected to be selected in the top five, he was selected in the latter portion of the first round by Talk 'N Text. With the selection, the Phone Pals added a point guard that was lacking in the team for the last few years.
In his first season, Alapag teamed up with star Asi Taulava
and led the Phone Pals all the way to the 2003 PBA All-Filipino Cup championship with a 4-2 victory over the Coca-Cola Tigers

After the championship, he continued his brilliant play as the Phone Pals' starting point guard and was named the Rookie of the Year at season's end. He also played in the All-Star Game as a rookie for the Commissioner's team.
As a rookie, he was also named to the PBA Mythical First Team.
In the 2004-05 season, Alapag would lead Talk 'N Text to two finals appearance and shared co-MVP honors with teammate Taulava in the All-Star Game in Cebu as the South All-Stars defeated the North.
His consistent play continued in the 2005-06 season despite Talk 'N Text failing to enter the finals. He played in the 2005 All-Star Game in Ilocos Norte and the 2006 edition in Cagayan de Oro.
In August 14, 2011, He was awarded as the 2010-2011 PBA MVP.

In 2009, the Philippines was preparing for the 2009 FIBA Asia Championship. The team's target was to finish 3rd place or better in order to automatically qualify for the 2010 FIBA World Championship. However, Yeng Guiao, the team's new head coach, did not include Alapag in the line-up. Olsen Racela, a 2-time member of the Philippine National Team, said coach Guiao should include Alapag in the team.

Jimmy Alapag, born and raised in Upland, California, was one of the biggest three-point threats in the NCAA Division II during 1999-2000 season. He had an average of 4.70 assist per game which made him the 6th player in the California State, Bernardino to make it to the record books.
