Joanne Black is a former Irish model, actress and Miss Ireland
, currently working as a stylist in London. She took the Miss Ireland
crown in 1995 at the age of 20, after becoming Miss Limerick Photogenic. Black then went on to represent the country at the Miss World
event in Cape Town in November of the same year, where she was introduced to Nelson Mandela
. She also attended the Miss Europe
event in Tirana, Albania, and the Miss Universe

Having completed her Miss Ireland reign, Black went on to pursue a career in acting – studying at the Gaiety School of Acting and the Dublin Media Centre. She moved to New York in 1998 to continue her studies at the Lee Strasberg Acting School. While there, working under the name Siobhan Ni Dubh, Black took a walk on part in The Thomas Crown Affair (1999 film)
and appeared in the movie Tumbling Dice alongside Francesco Quinn.
Black moved back to London in 2001 to resume her modelling career, working for Amanda Wakeley, DAKS, Jenny Packman, Paolo Frani, Penny Black, Save the Queen and Luis Civit.
More recently, Black trained in styling at the London College of Fashion and Aston and Hayes Image Consultancy. She qualified in 2008 and has since set up her own image consultancy business Joanne Black Style. She is also an affiliate member of tfic (The Federation of Image Consultants).

The couple, who met in New York while Black was studying at Lee Strasberg, now live in London with their dog Jinky.

Career
Brought up in Cavan, Joanne Black started modelling part time with the Holman Lee Modelling Agency in 1990. This led to her recognition and success at the Miss Limerick pageant – where she was crowned Miss Limerick Photogenic – and the Miss IrelandMiss Ireland
