and Twenty-third
Congresses (March 4, 1831-March 3, 1835). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1834 to the Twenty-fourth
Congress. He resumed the practice of law. He served as Surrogate of Rensselaer County from 1835-1840.
He served as delegate to the Democratic National Conventions in 1848, 1852, and 1856.
He died in Troy, New York
, April 9, 1860, and he was interred in Oakwood Cemetery.
