Amateur coaching
Gallagher became an amateur coach at the age of 25 in 1993. During his time he coached at Moss Side ABC (where he trained the amateurs whilst tutor Phil Martin had a successful pro camp), Benchill ABC, Nicholls Police ABC and Shannons ABC. Professional coaching
Gallagher turned pro in 2001 after Foster had won the 2nd ABA title and finished a quarter finalist at the World in 2001 he then turned pro. Gallagher was in the corner for Foster's professional debut. Gallaghers first success was when Eddie Nevins won the Central Area title, before Gallagher guided John Murray to the WBC Youth title in 2005 English title in 2006 British title in 2007.
