Hoppe was first elected in 2002, and was re-elected in 2004, 2006 and 2008. He ran unopposed in 2010. He is currently a member of the House's Commerce and Labor Committee, the Rules and Legislative Administration Committee, and the Ways and Means Committee. He also serves on the Commerce and Labor Subcommittee for the Telecommunications Regulation and Infrastructure Division, on which he is the ranking minority party member, and on the Finance Subcommittee for the Energy Finance and Policy Division.
