member of the Michigan House of Representatives from the 47th district in Livingston County
which includes the Townships of Conway, Cohoctah, Deerfield, Hartland, Howell, Handy, Iosco, Unadilla, Hamburg and Tyrone, City of Howell, and the Villages of Fowlerville and Pickney. Hune was elected in 2002. He won the Republican primary in what is considered a safe GOP district at the age of 21. In an intense primary, Hune initially lost by one vote but won after a re-count of the votes. He was chair of the House Insurance Committee and was term limited out of the state house in 2008.
Senator Hune assumed office in January 2011. He is chairman of the Senate Agriculture, Insurance and Redistricting committees, and also serves on the Health Policy and Regulatory Reform committees.
