Encyclopedia
John Bromyarde or John de Bromyarde (died ca. 1352) was the probable author of two books printed in the late 15th century. Bromyarde's name does not appear in contemporary lists of persons present at the council.
Bromyarde is the author of a work entitled Summa Prædicantium, printed at Basel by Johann Amerbach, not after 1484. 2 v. ; fol., &c., and reprinted at Nuremberg by Anton Koberger
in 1485. Other editions followed the last having appeared at Venice in 1586.
It is also probable that he was the author of Opus trivium perutilium materiarum prædicabilium ordine alphabetico e divina canonica civilique legibus eleganter contextum per ven. F. Philippum de Bronnerde, ord. præd., (in table of contents: Johannes de Bromyardo. Opus trivium) printed without date or place, but probably from the press of Ulrich Zel at Cologne, not after 1473. This book was reprinted at Lyons in 1500 ([Lyons]: Nicolaus Wolf, for Jean (alias Jenin) Diamantier), with the author's name given as Joannes Bromyard.
