John Frederick Vaughan Campbell, 2nd Earl Cawdor (11 June 1817 – 29 March 1898) was the son of John Frederick Campbell, 1st Earl Cawdor and Lady Elizabeth Thynne. He married Sarah Mary Compton-Cavendish, daughter of General Hon. Henry Frederick Compton-Cavendish
and Sarah Fawkener, on 28 June 1842. There are six children of the couple:
