and Earl of Richmond
, from 1286 to his death. He was son of Duke John I
and Blanche of Navarre. Also during this time, there is the dual use of "of Brittany" and "de Bretagne", the French translation.

and Eleanor of Provence

He was killed during the celebrations surrounding the coronation of Pope Clement V
in 1305. John was leading the pope's horse through the crowd. So many spectators had piled atop the walls that one of them crumbled and collapsed right on top of the unfortunate duke.
