John Richard Rooney is an English footballer.
He is the younger brother of Manchester United and England
forward Wayne Rooney
. Although born in England, Rooney has expressed a desire to represent the Republic of Ireland

at Red Bull Arena. On 28 June 2011 in his first start for New York, Rooney scored his first goal for the club in a 2-1 victory over FC New York in the US Open Cup.
Rooney was waived by New York on November 23, 2011.
