Personal life

Jon Neufeld and his brother are from Winnipeg. Jon is now married and has a baby son named Hudson.

The Band

The name "Starfield" was adopted from Bruce Cockburn's 1976 song named "Lord of the Starfields". The band was started in 1998 when Jon and Tim led worship at their small church in Winnipeg. The band returned to Abbotsford after a few years of living in Nashville.

On their band's purpose, Jon says:

“You can get as abstract as you want in Christian music,” Jon says. “There is a voice and a season for every kind of expression under the sun. You can be very fundamental or you can get off the beaten path, but there are a few subjects you can’t go wrong on, such as helping the poor and lifting up the name of Jesus. I think our last album encapsulated those two concepts very well. The Saving One is more internal. It is less about justice and more about being honest with ourselves and getting right before God.”

Starfield is also associated with the organization World Vision
