Character overview

He evidently arrived in Em City after the 1997 riot. In season 2 of the series, he seems to be a leader of the Christian inmates and their representative on the Em City council. It is never stated why he is in Oz (there is no "crime scene flashback" for the character) but it is hinted that he is a child molester. He used to teach High School and so is appointed by Tim McManus

 course. After the end of the second season the character was dropped and nothing further was said of him, making him one of the few inmate characters to be written out of the series without having to suffer an on-screen death.

As soon Emerald City is reopened, McManus asks Coushaine, the Christians leader, to teach the GED course, because he used to teach High School. Coushaine is attacked by Kenny Wangler
