-like performance and video works, often musical, that involve transformation through multiple characters. Keckler's voice spans three to four octaves. He grew up in Michigan and earned a painting degree from The University of Michigan.
He is strongly associated with New York's music, art, and literary scenes.

Music

In 2010, Keckler came out with an EP, Featured Creatures, released in Italy with Transeuropa

, paired with a book by contemporary experimental poet Gian Maria Annovi. Keckler's songs have be described as dark, theatrical, and eccentric.
As a teenager Keckler set out to become a blues singer. He subsequently trained classically as an operatic bass-baritone under the instruction of American tenor George Shirley

Performance works

Keckler's performance pieces have been presented at such venues as The New Museum, SF MOMA, NP Contemporary Art Space, and Joe's Pub. He is the author of several full-length performance pieces and plays and many short-form works. Among his works are Human Jukebox, Cat Lady, Talking Beasts, Day of the Dead, The Ballad of Junk and Malfunction, (written with actress Melaena Cadiz) and Looking for Limbo (written with frequent collaborator, actress and performance artist Erin Markey) .
