Vice Admiral Joseph Maguire is the Deputy Director for Strategic Operational Planning at National Counterterrorism Center
(NCTC). NCTC's mission is to lead the U.S. Government in strategic operational planning and counter-terrorism intelligence in order to combat terrorist threats to the U.S. and its interests. Prior to this appointment, Vice Admiral Maguire was Commander, Naval Special Warfare Command, Navy's component of the U.S. Special Operations Command and the Special Operations Component of the U.S. Navy. His first flag assignment was in United States Special Operations Command as the Director of Strategic Assessments and Resources.
Maguire is highly regarded as a leader in the Navy SEAL community.

Twenty One, SEAL Team Two, SEAL Delivery Vehicle Team Two, Naval Special Warfare Development Group, Naval Special Warfare Group Two, and later as Deputy Commander, Special Operations Command Pacific, and Deputy Commander, Naval Special Warfare Command.
He had the honor of serving as Commanding Officer, SEAL Team Two, and Commanding Officer, Naval Special Warfare Center
. Rear Adm. Maguire was the Flag Lieutenant to Commander Amphibious Forces Seventh Fleet
(CTF 76) and served in the Bureau of Naval Personnel, Washington, D.C., where he was Naval Special Warfare's Assignment Officer and Community Manager.
