 from 1724 until his death in 1741. He was the first Connecticut-born governor of the colony. Descended from one Connecticut's founding settlers, Talcott was appointed an assistant (member of the governor's council) in 1711. In 1724 he was elected governor following the death of Gurdon Saltonstall
