He scored his first senior goal during a 4–0 win over Port Vale on 1 May 2010. Due to the lack of fire-power since the departure of striker Brett Pitman, and injuries to other strikers, McQuoid adopted the role of striker and scored five goals in his first five games as striker.
In November 2010, he scored hat-tricks in consecutive games. The first came against Tranmere Rovers
