on January 11, 1988. After several extensions of the construction permit and assignment of the license to Stephen Atwood, the station was licensed on March 17, 1992 as a retransmitter for KUSK channel 7 in Prescott.
In October 1998, KPHO-TV
was issued a construction permit to build their digital facilities on channel 17, and as a secondary service, K17BU was forced to move to another channel. Before the KPHO-TV application was approved, K17BU applied to move to channel 53, then withdrew the application a year later, leaving the channel available for K67FE to move to. K17BU then applied to move to channel 57 and in June 2000, was licensed as K57HX.
Later that year, Stephen Atwood agreed to sell the station to Azteca Phoenix LLC (which would have likely flipped the station to Azteca America
), but the deal was never finalized. In April 2002, Londen Media Group acquired the station, along with all of the KUSK properties, and made K57HX a translator for KAZT-TV
Prescott, co-owned by Londen Media Group. One of Londen's other acquisitions for their AZ-TV channels was station KHSK (now KAZT-CA), which put a good signal into the area covered by K57HX, making it redundant. Londen Media Group switched affiliation to HSN in June 2005.
