The station went on the air as KRYT on 1986-03-24. The calls reflected the station nickname "K-Right," as 107.9 is at the far right end of the FM dial. On 1988-12-01, the station changed its call sign to KRYT-FM, on 1993-04-01 to the current KDZA-FM. KDZA-FM had an oldies format prior to June 24, 2008, when it switched to a Classic HitsClassic hits
