History

KLAK started broadcasting on the 104.9 FM frequency on August 14, 1984, licensed to Denison, Texas. It moved to its present 97.5 FM frequency on May 12, 1987.

The call letters are a reference to nearby Lake Texoma

KLAK is the sister station to KMKT-FM 93.1 (Katy Country) and KMAD-FM 102.5 (Mad Rock 102.5); both based in Sherman, TX.

The KLAK studios, production facilities and business offices are located in the First United Bank Building at 1700 Redbud Blvd in McKinney, TX.
