KLPac Sinfonietta

The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre Sinfonietta (KLPac Sinfonietta) is a symphony orchestra located in Kuala Lumpur
, Malaysia. It presents performances at the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPac) which fosters creative excellence and develops and nurtures performing arts culture in Malaysia. When the very idea of a performing arts centre was initially put forward by Dato' Faridah Merican and Joe Hasham
to YTL Corporation Managing Director Tan Sri Dato' Francis Yeoh more than three years ago, a music conservatory was an integral part of the proposal. Eventually, cost considerations meant that a music conservatory had to be shelved, at least for the time being.
As it turned out, the orchestra found its way to KLPac, driven by the obvious need for a community orchestra to cater for the growing number of classically trained music students and amateurs. The number turning up for the first auditions were held in October 2006, from music students and music teachers to professional musicians, was most encouraging and the rest, as they say, is history. The orchestra's debut concert in December 2006 was Candlelight Christmas, conducted by Resident Conductor Brian Tan with guest choir, La Voce. To the orchestra's delight, it was accorded a standing ovation by an appreciative audience on its final performance.
KLPac is well positioned to facilitate training and provide performing opportunities with its ample, well equipped rehearsal and performance spaces backed by management, marketing and technical surpport. In setting up the orchestra, KLPac hopes to provide enriching and engaging musical experiences for people with varying musical backgrounds, in an environment that promotes fellowship and respect. The founding of KLPac Sinfonietta willprovide more opportunities in the Klang Valley for aspiring musicians and those seeking an outlet for musical expression while helping to promote orchestra music.
