Its legacy on FM radio dates back to 1961 when it signed on as KOL-FM. The frequency has seen both Progressive Rock (1968-1975) and Beautiful music (1975-1978 as KEUT) formats, before flipping to its current incarnation in April 1978.KMPS started its life as a country station in 1975, as KMPS AM 1300.
