The station was assigned the call letters KNAF-FM on August 26, 1996. On December 10, 2003, the station changed its call sign to just KNAF.
On December 24, 2003, the station was sold to Jay. The station holds no DJs during the broadcast except for the morning show. JD and CJ in the morning broadcasts Monday through Fridays 6-10am EST. "Your number one choice for country music, with a Texas attitude." says JD. The show consists of skits, country music, and local news all performed eloquently by JD Rose and Calamity Jane. Broadcasting on the Gillespie county, both the station and the morning show are very popular within the communities.
