KRPS is the National Public Radio member station for the Four State Area

(though they are a single television market).
The station has been on the air since 1988, bringing NPR programming to one of the few areas of the nation without a clear signal from a public radio station. Before KRPS signed on, the only source of NPR programming in the area was a translator of KSMU
in Joplin. It operates a translator at 102.7 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma
(in the Tulsa market). It also claims to operate a translator at 91.3 in Iola, Kansas
, but this translator does not appear in the FCC database as of 2011.
KRPS is one of the few full NPR members that does not offer live streaming.
